Every fairy tale with a wolf in it happened in the same city, in the same stretch of history.
What you grew up hearing is the official version.

The bedtime story reaches its last page and the villain gets what he deserves. The child does not clap. He asks a question his mother cannot answer.

That afternoon he stood on the platform and urged everyone to obey the curfew. Now it is long past dark, he is still inside the wall, and there is a mill on the hill with a light in the window.
Coming soon.
Inside the wall live the humans. Outside it live the wolves, the sheep and the pigs. The wolves built that wall, and once it was up they were the ones left outside.
Every fairy tale you heard as a child has another version here. The one that survived was written by a records officer, and it became the story your mother read to you at bedtime. The other version has causes and consequences, and saying it out loud is inconvenient for everyone.
This is an ensemble serial, and each episode gives the same history to a different character to tell. Wolves, sheep, pigs and humans have all been wronged, and all have done wrong. No side here is clean, including the one you will find yourself rooting for.
